TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGING....IN MYANMAR

Military chief has just released an official announcement (Picture attached) that the military would honor the election results and that the meeting would take place with Aung San Su Kyi once the election results/announcements are officially concluded and winner is officially declared.

This is, in my opinion, a very professional, positive and pro-active action by the Military. Well done.

This action would go a long way to give much needed reassurance to the general public and to all the stakeholders in the country’s economy/businesses including local and foreign owners, employees, and their families.

What more could we ask for? Speaker of the House and former Military Chief, General Shwe Mann, had officially acknowledged in the press regarding his election defeat to the NLD candidate a few hours after polling stations were closed.

Moreover, he had called to the winning NLD candidate to congratulate him officially (at 6:30am!!!) and offered any assistance the new incumbent candidate might need from him. This shows his sincerity and willingness to help build the country, not about himself, but about the progress of the country. My deepest respect to General Shwe Mann.

Acting military linked party chief, U Htay Oo (a close friend of President U Thein Sein), within 24 hours after the votes, acknowledged his defeat in the press openly. At the same time he and his other colleagues re-assured that the current government would honor the election results. This shows that he too is going to put country and people ahead of himself. Thank you, U Htay Oo and colleagues.

As Bob Dylan song says….”Times They Are A Changing….”
